About This Directory
Where the listings come from, how “best” pages are ranked, and photo credits.
Data sources
Listings are compiled from the 2026 Hunters Sharing the Harvest participating processor list, the Pennsylvania Game Commission CWD cooperator map and earlier PGC lists, plus public business listings and processor websites. Closed businesses are removed. Listings marked “Unverified” only appeared on an older list or a news mention; call before you go.
How we rank “best” processors
City pages rank processors in and around each town. Each shop starts from its Google rating, blended toward an average when it has few reviews, so a 5.0 from 3 reviews doesn't beat a 4.8 from 200. Shops on the 2026 state program lists get a small boost, HSH partners and CWD cooperators a smaller one, and every mile from town costs a little. No business pays for its position.
Not an official site
This is an independent directory. It is not run by or affiliated with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the PA Department of Agriculture or Hunters Sharing the Harvest. Regulation summaries are for convenience; the PGC digest and website are the official source.
