Shuba's Processing and Fritz's Custom Cutting are on the Game Commission's CWD cooperating processor list, approved for proper disposal of high-risk parts. That's 56% of local shops in HSH, against 36% statewide. No shop here advertises after-hours drop-off, so plan to arrive during business hours or keep the deer cold overnight.
If you want more than steaks and burger, the shops here list fresh sausage and smoked products. None of these listings mention bear or elk, so call first if you have one. None of these processors list prices online; most quote a flat base rate plus extras for sausage, sticks and caping.
Washington County is in the PGC's Southwest Region. Region at a glance: Laurel Highlands farm and ridge country surrounding Pittsburgh, west to the Ohio and West Virginia lines. If every cooler here is full, neighboring Allegheny, Greene, Westmoreland and Fayette counties have 27 listed processors between them. If you want your deer tested for CWD, ask the shop to save the head, or drop it at a free PGC head bin.

Drop-off checklist
- Tag it right away. Tag the deer immediately after harvest and before you move it. The tag goes on the ear and stays there until the deer is processed.
- Field dress and cool fast. Remove entrails, drain the cavity and get the deer cold. In warm weather, pack the cavity with bagged ice.
- High-risk parts go in the trash. New for 2026-27: you can move a deer anywhere, but once it leaves the kill site the head, backbone and spleen must go out with commercial trash. A processor handles that for you.
- Report within 10 days. Online, by phone at 1-800-838-4431, or with the digest report card.
